Botox Q & A

What is Botox?

Botox is a purified form of the botulinum toxin. It works by temporarily halting the action in muscles that cause lines and wrinkles. When injected in specific sites, you experience a smoother, more youthful look.

What areas can be treated with Botox?

Botox is FDA-approved to treat frown lines between the eyebrows, crow’s feet around the eyes, and horizontal forehead lines. In some cases, the team at Gearity Wellness Center  may use Botox on other areas that show signs of aging. The experts discuss your aesthetic goals and whether Botox is the right treatment. Botox may be combined with other youth-enhancing therapies, including laser treatments and dermal fillers.

When will I see results of Botox injections, and how long do the effects last?

The wrinkle-reducing effects of Botox become apparent just 24-48 hours following treatment. Expect the effects to last between three and four months. Additional treatments are required to maintain your new look. The team at GearityWellness Center can put you on a schedule so you never have a lapse in the effects.

How many injections will I receive?

Your Botox treatment is customized by the team at Gearity Wellness Center. You can treat just one area or multiple areas in a session. If you’re treating crow’s feet, you receive three injections into the areas around the sides of the eyes on each hemisphere of your face. For frown lines between your brows, you receive five injections in the area, and for horizontal forehead lines, you also receive five injections in precise areas.

Do Botox injections hurt?

Botox injections do require a needle, so you feel a pinch during each injection. Treatment times are quick, with a session lasting about 10 minutes. If you’re concerned about discomfort, ask your provider about using ice or a numbing cream prior to treatment.

How long is the recovery following Botox treatment?

You need no downtime following Botox. You can go right back to your regular activities following a session. The only side effects may be some redness or mild bruising at the injection sites, but these are easily covered by makeup.
